Involvement of child protective services (CPS)
The goal of CPS is to reduce the risk to a child, not to remove the child from the care of the non-offending parent/caregiver.
Child welfare workers can provide support and serve as an advocate if you choose to access financial or residential services.
The following are suggestions NOT recommendations on how to navigate such situations.
